Matters ratified by AGA 2018

The following matter were ratified by the 2018 Annual General Assembly:

1. The Dismissal of Ms Mphoeng
On the 17th November 2017, the National Executive Committee took a resolution to provisionally remove Ms Mphoeng from the NEC. Ms Mphoeng constantly made statements that brought, or had the potential to bring the name of NEC members and the NEC as whole into disrepute, contrary to Clause 2.9 of the BFA Code of Conduct.
The NEC therefore request the AGA to ratify the decision to remove Ms Mphoeng from the NEC.

2. Postponement of the Commencement of the Season
The NEC Request the AGA to ratify the decision to postpone the
commencement of the Botswana Premier League season to the 231d of September 2017, contrary to Article 38.16 of the Constitution. The postponement was to allow for the conclusion of the sponsorship negotiations.

3. Appointment of Judicial Committee Members
The NEC Request the AGA fo ratify the appointment of persons listed in “Annexure A” attached hereto, to fill vacancies in our Judicial Bodies and the Audit and Compliance Committee. The appointments were necessitated by the resignation of some members resulting in the collapse of quorum.

4. Extension of the Presentation of Motions and Reports
The NEC requests the AGA to ratify its decision to extend the time period for presentation of Reports and motions to the Secretariat to the 27th of June 2018, outside the 15th June deadline stipulated in the Constitution. The extension was meant to accommodate structures which held their respective AGA’’s late due to lack of quorum and pending legal matters.

5. Late Presentation of the 2016/2017 Audited Financial Statements
The NEC requests the AGA to ratify the late tabling of the 2016-2017 Audited Financial Statements. As per the 2017 General Assembly resolution, the Audited Financial Statements were to be presented at an Extra Ordinary Assembly. The envisaged Extra Ordinary Assembly could not be arranged due to the delay in concluding the audit.

6. Holding of Structural Assemblies
The NEC requests the AGA to ratify the decision to allow Chobe RFA, Francistown RFA, South East RFA, Southern RFA and the Premier League to hold their respective Assemblies outside the 31st May deadline.

The holding of the respective Assemblies late was as a result of the pending legal matter before the court (for FRAFA) and lack of quorum for the properly scheduled Assemblies (Chobe RFA, South East RFA and Southern RFA).

BFA Welcomes New Zebras Head Coach, Morena Ramoreboli

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Morena Ramoreboli as the new Head Coach of the Zebras. This marks an exciting new chapter for Botswana football, as the men’s and women’s national teams recently achieved historic qualifications for the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2025 – only the second time both teams have qualified in the same year.

Mr. Ramoreboli brings over a decade of top-level coaching experience and holds a CAF A license. His accomplishments include winning two Botswana Premier League titles and securing two CAF Champions League qualifications with Jwaneng Galaxy, achieving significant victories against teams like Orlando Pirates and Wydad Athletic Club. His familiarity with many of Botswana’s players from his time at the club level ensures a seamless transition into his new role.

The BFA has set clear targets for Mr. Ramoreboli, including progressing beyond the group stages at AFCON 2025, collecting at least 12 points in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, qualifying for CHAN 2026, and winning the 2025 COSAFA Senior Men’s Challenge. Additionally, improving Botswana’s FIFA ranking to the top 30 in Africa is a key objective.

To achieve these goals, the BFA is committed to providing the necessary resources and support for the Zebras. The Association also calls on all Batswana to rally behind Mr. Ramoreboli and the national teams. Fans are encouraged to attend matches and create an electrifying atmosphere during the World Cup qualifiers. Plans are underway to make travel packages available for supporters to cheer on the teams in Morocco for the Women’s AFCON and in December for the men’s AFCON.

The BFA also appeals to the media to play an active role in building excitement and uniting the nation behind the Zebras and Mares. A collaborative committee will be formed to drive fan engagement and ensure widespread support.

“We are confident that with Mr. Ramoreboli’s vision, experience, and leadership, the Zebras will achieve great success. With unity and the unwavering support of the nation, there is no limit to what we can accomplish,” said the BFA President.
