FIFA CONNECT CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT – Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

The association is pleased to announce that Ishmael Tasebolai from Competitions and Operations department on behalf of Botswana Football Association is currently with other 11 member association representatives at FIFA Connect Programme capacity development workshop in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania . The workshop is jointly organised by FIFA and CAF in Dar Es Salaam , Tanzania from the 16.02.2023 – 17.02.2023.

The aim of the workshop is to explain the various requirements of Member Associations in the area of electronic registration and competition management – especially within the context of football development initiatives such as the CAF School Championship Programme and the FIFA regulations including the FIFA Clearing House.

The participating Member Associations will also be able to get more information on the FIFA Connect Programme and its various modules in the areas of registration and competition management as well as the data exchange with FIFA and CAF through the FIFA Connect ID Service.

The Mares Drawn In Group B for WAFCON 2024

Botswana’s senior women’s football team, The Mares, will face stiff competition in Group B of the 15th edition of the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The official draw, held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Salé, Morocco, set the stage for the tournament, which is scheduled to run from July 5 to 26, 2025.

The Mares find themselves in a challenging group alongside African football giants Nigeria, who boast an impressive 11 WAFCON titles and are gunning for their 12th. Completing the group are Tunisia and Algeria, both formidable teams in their own right, promising intense competition.

The draw was part of a ceremony celebrating the growth and vibrancy of African women’s football, with officials emphasizing the tournament’s significance in showcasing the continent’s talent and passion for the sport.
