Professionalizing Womenโ€™s Football has become a popular centerpiece these day, especially with the rise of diversity, inclusion and equity discussions. Equally so, it has become prudent, if not a deliberate decision through FIFA and CAF settings to situate the right structures for women football contributors as the growth of women football as a whole is entirely dependent on such measurable goals.

With the just ended National Women Committee General Assembly including that of Regional Assemblies conducted by Botswana Football Associationโ€™s secretariat and Electoral Committee countrywide, it was quite impressive to note with much gratitude a great number of women delegates actively participating and taking on leadership roles administratively in this male dominated sport through election process. In this new era and the first of its kind we welcomed more women in regional and league committees, this is an increased number in staring positions and a positive alignment within the Botswana Women Football Strategy as tailored by FIFA through a distinctive Pilar of Structure and Administration amongst others.

It is remarkable to note the rising popularity of the code is now closer to home, and with this fair representation, we should look forward to league structures taking a good shape.

Committee services is one of the most complexed volunteer roles within our organization, it may seem underrated and unappreciated however it is imperative to note the tireless contributions that has been brought by volunteerism, as this is what has made Botswana
Football Association what it is today.

Football is such a dynamic sports, rules of engagement continuously change or elevate to suit the competition at play and it is at this juncture where we need to take in, let it simmer as we are reminded of the journeys taken to reach this far.
In appreciation of various outgoing committee members whose reign has come in full circle, particularly those who served under women structures, caption this chapter as having been made pivotal and phenomenal, especially with the iconic success stories recorded in your presence, guidance and watch. You leave behind women’s football as a sport of interest with visible footprint thus making it easy for your successors to carry on the baton to greater success countrywide.
I must applaud the unmeasurable efforts and works of the forth estates in this country who continue to rally behind and capture the untold stories behind football together with the support of business communities that pours generously into the livelihoods of the Association.

Women’s Football is a low-hanging fruit, as the world continues to be on the lookout for structured collaborative ideas and partnerships, feasible plans must be put in place to drive our game through women and girl-child contribution to greater heights more in particular to make the field of play more competitive thus creating a strong commercial value. Our products are within the girl/boy-child participation through grassroots and youth development engagements, it should be noted that these are crucial yet sensitive stages that have to be nurtured diligently hence the need to be intentional on our quest so at the end we produce athletes of credible value and sellable to the international markets.
