The Confederation of African Football (โ€œCAFโ€) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe launched the pioneering Africa Super League, a project of unprecedented scale that is set to change the face of African football.
 
At the launch in Arusha, Tanzania where he was joined by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, leading African football clubs, African and European football legends, the President and Representatives of the CAFโ€™s 54 Member Associations; the CAF President described the Africa Super League as a historical game changer that will make African football globally competitive and self-sustaining.
 
The Prize money of the Africa Super League will be USD 100 million, with the winner receiving USD 11.5 million.
 
Some of the funding from the Africa Super League will be used to allocate USD 1 million per annum to each of CAFโ€™s 54 Member Countries, which is a total of USD 54 million per annum to develop football in all the African countries.
 
CAF will also receive USD 50 million per annum to develop football for boys and girls, to employ world-class staff, to improve and to make all its other competitions attractive and appealing to football spectators, TV viewers, sponsors and other partners.
 
The Africa Super League will support the growth of club football, the construction and maintenance of football infrastructure and facilities, as well as the training and the retention of football talent on the African Continent.
 
Africaโ€™s most valuable football club competition, the Africa Super League, will officially kick off in August 2023 and will involve 24 clubs from 16 countries across the Continent.

BFA Welcomes New Zebras Head Coach, Morena Ramoreboli

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Morena Ramoreboli as the new Head Coach of the Zebras. This marks an exciting new chapter for Botswana football, as the menโ€™s and womenโ€™s national teams recently achieved historic qualifications for the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2025 โ€“ only the second time both teams have qualified in the same year.

Mr. Ramoreboli brings over a decade of top-level coaching experience and holds a CAF A license. His accomplishments include winning two Botswana Premier League titles and securing two CAF Champions League qualifications with Jwaneng Galaxy, achieving significant victories against teams like Orlando Pirates and Wydad Athletic Club. His familiarity with many of Botswanaโ€™s players from his time at the club level ensures a seamless transition into his new role.

The BFA has set clear targets for Mr. Ramoreboli, including progressing beyond the group stages at AFCON 2025, collecting at least 12 points in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, qualifying for CHAN 2026, and winning the 2025 COSAFA Senior Menโ€™s Challenge. Additionally, improving Botswanaโ€™s FIFA ranking to the top 30 in Africa is a key objective.

To achieve these goals, the BFA is committed to providing the necessary resources and support for the Zebras. The Association also calls on all Batswana to rally behind Mr. Ramoreboli and the national teams. Fans are encouraged to attend matches and create an electrifying atmosphere during the World Cup qualifiers. Plans are underway to make travel packages available for supporters to cheer on the teams in Morocco for the Womenโ€™s AFCON and in December for the menโ€™s AFCON.

The BFA also appeals to the media to play an active role in building excitement and uniting the nation behind the Zebras and Mares. A collaborative committee will be formed to drive fan engagement and ensure widespread support.
