Double Action proved to be strong-willed for Mexican Girls as they claimed 4-2 victory in the DTCB Top 8 Women’s Champions final in a highly competitive match at Lekidi Football Centre on Sunday afternoon. The Champions walked away with a trophy and P250, 000.00 whopping cash prize money while the runners up bagged P150, 000.00 with medals. Royal Fighters FC finished on third-place walking away with sum of P100, 000.00 cash prize with bronze medals.
The DTCB Women Top 8 championship tournament was made up of the clubs that finished first in their respective regions in the previous season. This was the first Top 8 competition of its kind held and was featured Royal Fighters FC, Granada FC, Double Action FC, Francistown FC, Orapa Stars SC, Green Lovers FC, Mexican Girls FC and Cubs Ditawana FC.
The shot stopper of the tournament won by Bame Mokime from Double Action while top goal scorer award winner won by Masego Nfandiso with 17 goals from the same team. Player of the tournament award won by Segakolodi Didukanyane from Kweneng region side Mexican Girls FC.

The Mares Drawn In Group B for WAFCON 2024

Botswana’s senior women’s football team, The Mares, will face stiff competition in Group B of the 15th edition of the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The official draw, held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in SalΓ©, Morocco, set the stage for the tournament, which is scheduled to run from July 5 to 26, 2025. 

The Mares find themselves in a challenging group alongside African football giants Nigeria, who boast an impressive 11 WAFCON titles and are gunning for their 12th. Completing the group are Tunisia and Algeria, both formidable teams in their own right, promising intense competition. 

The draw was part of a ceremony celebrating the growth and vibrancy of African women’s football, with officials emphasizing the tournament’s significance in showcasing the continent’s talent and passion for the sport.
